Ten WordPress Photo Gallery and Photo Plugins

A blog without images is like half a blog. Most people expect to see at least some images sprinkled around your blog. Then on some sites they want a gallery of pictures to give a variety of visual information, such as for photographers, artists, and quilters. Adding images to your WordPress blog can be simple with great photo and photo gallery plugins.

1. Featured Content Gallery is a photo gallery WordPress plugin. It allows you to create an automated, rotating image gallery on any post or page. It is very easy to integrate and you simply add a field where you want the gallery to display. Choose from dozens of options to customize according to your website.

2. NextGen Gallery is probably the most popular WordPress Photo Gallery plugin. Create a slide show, a media RSS feed and more. Easily move, copy, upload and delete images. You can even add a flash photo gallery.

3. WP Photo Album easily allows you to manage WordPress photo albums. Create albums and move photos to and from them. Upload and delete photos and add a bit of code to post your album where needed.

5. Lazyest Gallery with a name like that, how can you not like this WordPress plugin? It creates thumbs and slides automatically. Easily manage comments per image or folder. Arrange your images and folders as you wish and handle many other details as you see fit.

6. Shutter Reloaded is an image viewer but is minimal in size. It will resize large images, combine images in sets and pre-load images for faster display. You can customize background and color for captions, buttons and menu.

7. Lightbox 2 allows viewers to see a larger image in a unique format. Once an image is clicked it will pop up and the rest of the page will darken. Load times remain almost the same.

Top 5 Blogging Platforms

Blogging is very popular and if you want to get anywhere online you need a blog. It may seem simple enough to just choose a blogging platform and get started, but if you plan on taking your blogging seriously, you need to choose a blogging platform carefully. There are many platforms from which to choose. It can seem a bit confusing at first to know which ones are good and which ones are not so great. Here is a review of the top five blogging platforms with information about each that should help you to decide which one may be the best choice to suit your needs.

Blogspot or Blogger

Blogspot, usually referred to as Blogger, is Google's blogging platform. As you would expect from Google, this is a very user friendly platform. It is also extremely popular, many claim it is the most popular blogging platform available. Blogger was one of the first blogging platforms, so this helps a lot in making it easy to use. It is also free.

HubPages

HubPages is more like a social networking site than strictly just a blogging platform. This is different from other platforms, like Blogger. HubPages is perfect if you want to make money because the platform is built to help you network, link and add in things that will help you to earn revenue. It is also free to use.

Squidoo

Squidoo is similar to HubPages in that it works much like a social networking site. You create lenses, which are really just pages on different topics. You can link them together and link them to other lenses. It is fairly easy to use once you get the hang of the process. It also allows for a user to make easy money and it is available at no cost.

TypePad

TypePad is a more traditional blogging platform. It is not free, like some other platforms, but the cost is rather low and can be paid monthly or once a year. The features available depend on the package you buy. It is very simple to use, even for a beginner. It is probably the simplest platform to use because there is not technical aspect to creating a TypePad blog.

WordPress

WordPress is comparable to Blogger in many ways. If Blogger would be considered the most popular platform, then WordPress would be a close second. It is free, like Blogger. And it is also made to be easy to use. WordPress can be a bit more technical though, so novice users may find it tricky to get stated. However, once you get started you can easily use its many user friendly features to create a great blog, and there are many tutorials will teach you how to use WordPress.

These five different blogging platforms are the ones that you find the easiest to use. They all have different aspects that make them unique. Some are easier to use than others. Some may offer more features than others. The choice you make really depends on your computer skills and what you want to do with your blog. You might want to give them all a try to see which one works the best for you.
